Wine Wednesday :)

Happy Wine Wednesday Everyone!!!! I have been a little MIA lately I know but with the holidays and my big Christmas surprise (hopefully) I have been so busy I couldn't even being to explain. Tonight our girls group is getting together at one of our favorite places to eat and drink and we are going to get to talk about Danielle's engagement :) and all the other fun stuff that is going on in our lives. I am so excited.

Random Tuesday Post :)

Hey follower bloggers...I haven't blogged in awhile. With my work being crazy and the holidays just around the corner I haven't had much time for much of anything. I hope to get back to it ASAP! I finally decorated for Christmas on Friday. I am happy things are up but I was noticing I have been doing less and less lately because I don't really have the space in my apartment and for those who have seen my place. It already kinda looks like Christmas year round with my colors, yellow, red and green. Nevertheless I put up my Carolina tree (black tree with Gamecock ornaments.) But I started thinking, I have to have a theme for any decorations I do. My future sister in law has tons of decorations that don't have a theme but they look good together. Am I weird because I am very picky when it comes to my Christmas decorations. I do not want any colored lights and everything has to be red, black, green or gold.

 You know those days that you wake up in a good mood and keep it all day long.  That has been me today.  I can't explain it.  I am hoping for a huge surprise this weekend so maybe that has something to do with it :) But I am just happy.  I wish I could bottle this up and keep it for my blah days.

Another Wine Wednesday!!!!

 

It is Wine Wednesday!!!!  I swear my co-worker has been noticing that every Wednesday I wear a cute outfit and also bring my make-up to work.  I told her it is because it is Wine Wednesday.  I do believe it is how almost 30-somethings (Sorry Danielle and Smash but we are:) cope with the week!  I am very excited about tonight because the 3 Musketeers will  be together again! It has been too long and we use to see each other every week.  

I wanted to kinda talk about these two special people in my life!  First Smash, (her real name is Ashley but she will always be my Smash) I met her when she was living with my brother's girlfriend (now ex YAY! that is for another post for another day) She came to my last party and my townhouse before I moved into my fabulous apartment now :) and when I met her I felt a cosmic, kindred connection to her.  After she said hello and I hugged her which I do to almost everyone, she asked me if I liked Britney!!! INSTANT BEST FRIEND!!!  We have gone through so much in the past few years!  I have to say Smash is one of those friends (well and Danielle too but I do talk to her everyday) that I could not see for months and we could pick up right where we left off.  I was so happy when she asked me to help her plan the biggest day of her life :) She is a special person in my life!  I love that we have become so close and we are so much alike except she is from Boston and if you watched Danielle's VLOG yall know I am from right here in South Carolina.

Then there is Danielle!  I met her a few times before we started to really be close and we didn't really talk that much.  Believe it or not Danielle can be a little quiet when you first meet her.  But one day out of the blue she called me and asked if I wanted to go with her to get a tattoo.  I have never been in a tattoo parlor and never really had the urge to get a tattoo but it was a Tuesday night and I had nothing better to do so I went.  I asked lots of questions to the tattoo artist, Buck, and felt like my 74 year old Mema because of the questions I asked.  Like what got you into this position and the craziest thing you done, etc.  When I get nervous I talk and talk but I think that made Danielle laugh.  I even asked her once if it hurt when she was squirming and curling her toes and she gave me that, are you freaking kidding me of course this hurts bitch look.  But in a sweet way :) After that we would go to lunch at least once a week, talk on yahoo messenger and over the course of almost 5 years we have become like sisters!  

I could not even begin to tell how much the two of these ladies mean to me.  About a year ago my boyfriend, Allen, his cousin/roommate/brother (because they were so close) passed away.  I hated seeing the man I love more than anything in the world so hurt like he was.  Brent was apart of the close-knit group and without any hesitation both Danielle and Smash were there for the both of us.  I have never in my life had friends be there for Allen and me like they were.  Without going into much detail it was something and is something we are dealing with but those two ladies were always there and listened and hugged me and allen when we needed it.  I didn't ask them to come to the funeral they came on their own.  When Allen and I where driving to the graveside he said it was so nice for your friends to come and I told him no honey they are your friends too.  He just held my hand and said he loved them.  About 3 months after this happened Allen was deployed to Kuwait.  They have been there for me whenever I get sad or lonely.  It has been a hard year but with these two ladies, who will never know how much I love, respect and care for them, I have been ok.  

I would have been lucky to just have one friend like that in my life but to have two I am overly-blessed :) I cannot for when Allen comes home so we can go on our couple vacation to the Mountains and go to wineries :) I love them very much!

Long Weekend Update!

Hello everyone out there!!  I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Mine was pretty good until I got that nasty stomach virus that put me on the couch for 2 days.  

But this is a little update :) Since my father is an awesome boss.  We only had to work a half day on Wednesday so I got to spend the afternoon with this sweet child.

This is Allen's (and my niece) isn't she just adorable :) Her name is Abby and she is going to be 4 in March.  Please ignore the awful picture of me.  :)

We walked Pepper she watched Cars 2 while I cleaned my apartment and then we watched Mikey Mouse Club House and I painted her nails.

She let them "dry" for over 30 minutes she didn't want to mess up my awesome job :) 

Thursday morning my brother and I have had this tradition of me making breakfast and then watching the Macy's Day Parade.  I wasn't too impressed with it this year the best part was probably Jimmy Fallon and The Roots. 

And yes we did have some bubbly :) 

Friday I had a shrimp boil with my cousins it was so much fun.  I forgot to take pictures...next time.

The next two days I was on the couch sick as a dog.  But my sweet furry little one stayed right with me.

I watched the movie "The Watch" although it wasn't the best movie I had ever seen but it wasn't too bad. I did watch some awfully awesome Lifetime movies :) 

All in All it wasn't an awful Thanksgiving.

WINE WEDNESDAY!

Happy Wine Wednesday everyone! This has turned out to be one of my favorite work days :)  Tonight after work, I am meeting Danielle and we are going to our local wine bar.  We haven't been there in months.  I am very excited to catch up and sip :) This has been one stressful week and I am looking for some relaxation!  

After I meet Danielle I am going home to make a very yummy flank steak salad and watch the new Spiderman movie :) I have to say I am excited.  Although, depending on how much wine I consume will determine if I make it through the movie.  

This weekend I am very excited I am going to be crafty :)   I think my first project is going to a the wine coasters that seem very easy to make.  

 Then I am going to make either:

I hate my half bathroom it has no sparkle or pizzazz so I thought I would make a A & J to put in there I am leaning a little to the framed letters because I worry the other might be a little difficult.  Also, the framed letters would take up more space which is what I need. Which do you like?

This is going to be my last project of the weekend.  I think I am going to do a red and I haven't decided if I want to do an initial or just a design.  It is hard because I know I won't be a JCB for too much longer but I don't want to put JBM until I am married.  That is just saying hello I am crazy!

Trash Talking = Unattractive

I lost a lot of friends last night...on Facebook.  I hate to rant but I am absolutely disgusted on people voicing their opinions as though they are facts.  I was disgusted by both Democrats and Republicans.  I do not believe that Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram is a place for political debates and passage aggressive remarks.  I have my opinion about whom I thought should be President and my close friends know that but I wouldn't belittle people who did not feel the same as me.  Everyone has the right to choose and choose is what they did.  People who berate others for not having the same opinion is just wrong.  I am an individual just like everyone else!  Honestly it is the same thing as people with football teams.  It is no surprise that I love the South Carolina Gamecocks...I am alumni there, most of my family are alumni from there and also I love the colors :)  But I also know the game of football a lot of people will post absolutely ridiculous posts on their social media outlets about their teams and trash talking others.  It is just getting to a point where I hate to be on any outlet at that time.  Don't get me wrong FRIENDLY competition is fine but saying extremely asinine remarks is not something that should be done.  Women need to act like LADIES and men need to act like GENTLEMEN!  That is what is wrong with this world it doesn't matter who you want for president or who your favorite team is or who you want as your American Idol...What is wrong is how people act when they don't or do get their way.  

I do apologize for this rant and I want to keep my blog light and fun but this is something that has just been weighing on me for awhile.  

  

Weekend Re-cap!

Yesterday was a very long day.  I was emotionally drained so I didn't have the energy to post about my weekend but I am well rested and 3 pounds lighter today (woohoo) so I am ready :) 

I tend to start my weekends on Thursday even if I have to work on Friday because I only work until 2 :) so I saw this on Facebook and it made me so very happy.  

 

Thursday night I had gone to dinner with my brother when we had our very empowering talk about me conquering my backyard but while I was waiting on him.  I poured a glass of wine lit my walmart pumpkin candle and looked/lusted over all the beautiful Pottery Barn things.  One day I will have a Pottery Barn Christmas!

On Friday after work Adam and I went to the Nu-Way for a late lunch and beers :) It was fun because we haven't done that in at least a year when Adam was still in school.  There is something about this dive bar I just love. And it is close to my office and my apartment.  Being the loser that I am I was fast asleep at 8:30 on a Friday!  But Friday's are always like that for me I like my sleep. 

Saturday I cleaned, cooked some dinner, drank some wine, and watched Rock of Ages twice.  I just love that movie.  I love having Jennifer days like that.  I did not do anything much but it was ok.  I actually tried a few new recipes.  Did not succeed but at least I tried :) 

Sunday is my favorite day because I get to spend it with this sweet boy:

We went to church (which was an awesome message), then lunch at Wade's with my sweet friend Ashley and her child Jacob that Jackson is just crazy about.  Then Jackson and I watch Monsters and Aliens.  And we had a surprise phone call from Allen :) perfect Sunday!! He went home and I cooked chicken and rice. Which was perfect for a chilly day.

To make this weekend even better this handsome man will be back with me in exactly 8 weeks!!!! 

Cannot WAIT to see him again :)

Conquer Your Own Backyard

I was having dinner with my brother last night at my favorite Mexican restaurant and we were having a serious (as serious as you can have with big beers) about our futures.  I am so proud of my brother for going back to school to become a chiropractor.  But then he turned the conversation to me and asked me what I want out of life.  I started to talk about a few things like marriage and kids with Allen but he stopped me and said not personal things your career.  I drew a blank! I know I don't want to be selling insurance for the rest of my life but when I think about what I want to do I can't really put my finger on it.  I love ADORE fashion and I use to think owning my own store is what I wanted but I don't think that is what I want.  


What I really want is to own my very own planning company.  I want to plan events from seminars to weddings.  I then started talking about how Allen and I would need to move so that I can start this business...Adam disagreed! He said I need to conquer my own backyard! I need to start small then get bigger.  So I am going to do it! I am going to start taking cooking classes and baking classes.  I am also going to take some sewing classes so I can be a one stop shop for my clients.  I am going to formulate my plan and hopefully I won't fail.  But if I do at least I am taking a gamble on myself! 


Cannot wait to see what happens!!!!

 

Weekend Re-Cap!

I have been a bad blogger this week! But I am going to get better I promise :)

I had a very fun weekend.  I was off Friday so I got a massage in the morning then ran all my errands and got home around 11 am so I had lots of time to relax and catch-up on my DVR.  I was going to clean but I decided to save that for Saturday :).

Friday night my best friend Danielle had a Halloween party at her boyfriend's apartment so I took my friend Ashley with me.  I wanted to be a peacock but could not get the costume together (next year) so I was something that I have been before.  80's glitter queen :)

This was my makeup.  I had so much glitter on my face.  I loved my eye makeup.  I used a primer then put on NYK glitter eye shadows (about 7 different ones) then I dusted my whole face with glitter powder.  Yes I had all this stuff already.  I wear glitter all the time ;) 

  I was pretty proud of my outfit.  The only few items I purchased was Glitter hair spray! (love it) leg warmers (which I have worn since) I think I am going to try to bring them back haha and some lace gloves.

This is me and my friend Ashley she was a zombie bridesmaid.  She looked awesome! 

Saturday was a very nice relaxing day.  Except for one of my favorite players getting hurt #21 Marcus Lattimore.  I hope he gets better.  I got to talk to Allen twice :) it was a huge excitement!!!!!  I don't get to talk to him much on the phone since he is in Kuwait so I was so happy to hear his voice :) I also kept my favorite little boy for the afternoon and we watched Monsters and Aliens...one of our favorite movies together.  He watched it once by himself while I cleaned then we watched it again.

Allen had called and we were talking to him on speaker then he started to dance and I had to record it.  He is just so funny!!

Saturday night I finally saw Magic Mike...I will say I wasn't too impressed. Then I went to bed. 

Sunday I went to church in the morning and took Jackson to lunch after church and we had a good time. Then I spent the rest of the day chilling on the couch.  I watched Rock of Ages and had the best time watching that movie.  I sang every song and I really liked it.

Happy Wine Wednesday Ladies!!!!!!!

Can I tell you I am super excited about going to my favorite restaurant/bar and have 1/2 bottle(s) of wine tonight!!!!  I picked my outfit out last night!  I guess this is what it is like for almost thirtysomethings do now haha.  I remember going to Charlotte Russe in Columbia every Thursday to buy my going-out outfits for the weekend when I was in college then go out all weekend drinking shots and beer.  Oh how the tables have turned, now I go out one night every few weeks for wine.  And no my dress is not from Charlotte Russe it is from Old Navy :) Truth be told I do not think I could fit into anything from there any more!

I am going with my sister by another mother Ashley :) Cannot wait!!! I even think Ms. Danielle will be making an appearance as well.  They haven't met yet and who doesn't love meeting over a glass(es) of wine :)  Wednesday is turning into a favorite day of mine!

   




                                                                                                                            

Oktoberfest Update!

 Last night my brother and I went to a local restaurant for an authentic German Meal!  The food was all prepared in house and even the sausages were homemade.  It was something I had never had before but pretty good and different. I took lots of pictures to show. :)


Here are the highlights:
**I got to spend time with my brother and eat something I had never had before.

**We went to one of my favorite restaurants so I knew I would like the wine :) 
**The food was amazing! 
**Adam seemed to enjoy it too!

Downfalls:
**You sit with people you don't know because they serve the food family style.  This wouldn't be a huge problem if you had a group of friends together and you all went.  That would be fun but I felt like I had to be on my best behavior and didn't get to talk to Adam as much as I want.
**I sat next to the MOST pretentious woman ever! She knew everything about EVERYTHING.  I wanted to punch her in the throat before it was all said and done!
**It was way more expensive than I thought it was going to be.  What I thought would be $40 a person with food and drink included only included ONE drink.  So my bill ended up being about $140 for us including tax and tip...

On to the pictures :) 

We had an accordion player throughout the whole meal.  It was kinda interesting and he really got everyone involved.  Adam really liked that!

This couple actually started Oktoberfest in our little town.  They of course were very German and I couldn't understand much of what they said but they were very nice.

The dessert was a yummy apple dish that I am going to try to learn to make for my pampered chef party this weekend.  And of course I had to take a picture of what I had left over from dinner! 

It was about 9 when we left our German experience and Adam and I both were needing a little taste of home so we went to our local bar/grill for a nightcap!

 

Adam had the BudLight and I stick with my Mic Ultra :) We were the only ones in there so I took a goofy picture :) 

All in all it was a good night :)

Oktoberfest!

This is trouble and two of the most important men in my life, Allen and Adam :)

My brother's birthday is September 21st and I still haven't done anything for him.  Normally, we just go to dinner and grab drinks but being a little cash poor lately I haven't been able to do that.  But tonight we are going to a local restaurant that is doing a special dinner.  It is an Oktoberfest feast :) I am really looking forward to it and even though it is $40 a person that includes dinner, drinks and dessert so I believe it is going to be worth it.  I am very excited about it and plan to take lots of pictures of all the food :) So be ready for an update tomorrow friends :)

Yesterday was a very cold, rainy day and it doesn't help that it was a Monday either.  So needless to say I was a little down yesterday.  I don't know why really but when I always looks at these pictures it is hard not to smile :)
